Unlocking Our Capacities as Therapists Through Science, Sensitivity, and Sustained Practice
The Depth Institute
We are here to support therapists who believe in evidence-informed, neurologically-grounded, therapeutic-responsive care that is worth practicing (and practicing, and practicing!)
Modern Curriculum
Neurolobiology and clinical trial based approaches to improve therapeutic outcomes

Science
Neurobiologically Informed Experiential Practice
Cognitive interventions can sometimes be limited when addressing chronic autonomic dysregulation or developmental trauma. We focus on "bottom-up" experiential modalities that engage subcortical processes. By translating principles from affective neuroscience, polyvagal theory, and interpersonal neurobiology (IPNB) into clinical strategy, we train practitioners to safely access core affect, navigate defensive adaptations, and support memory reconsolidation.

Sensitivity
Therapeutic Responsiveness & Multicultural Competence
Effective therapy relies on the ability to tailor interventions to a client’s specific needs, readiness, and cultural background. Grounded in psychotherapy outcome research, our training emphasizes therapeutic responsiveness. We view cultural humility and intersectional awareness as essential to this process. Our faculty helps clinicians explore how systemic oppression, cultural trauma, and diverse identities shape nervous system regulation, ensuring that experiential interventions are applied safely and ethically.

Competence
Deliberate Practice Methodology
To translate theory into clinical competence, our training incorporates the deliberate practice framework. Moving beyond standard lecture formats, our training models utilize behavioral rehearsal, experiential exercises, and targeted skill isolation. By practicing specific therapeutic micro-skills with expert feedback, clinicians build the capacity to execute complex, relationally attuned interventions in live sessions.
